Matt decided to mix up the scenery for this one, to give me some variety, Beef rolled higher than me and chose the side with the hill in the deployment zone, no hiding from those claw shots :)
For this game I decided to be cheesy and go for the loot as I had 1st turn and lots of flyers I flew up and went to the 2 loot markers on either side. The plan being to grab the loot and retreat behind the hill and forest to avoid the shooting and protect the wraiths with wolves. Things didnt quite go to plan as the first set of wraiths were routed before they even made it out of the woods. Lucky for me I had left enough room to drop the loot beyond the forest and pick it up with the revenant king and begin the slow race to my own side.

I flew one troop of wraiths into the far left death engine to buy time for my wraiths on the loot to escape but they succumb to weapon team firepower. The wraiths routed after the first counter charge from the death engine, so it wasnt slowed for long. The wolves on the left were then the focus of Beef's shooting and were wavered for their troubles. In the centre the revenants gingerly picked up the loot and proceeded to back up each turn. Beef decided not to charge the horde of blights into the revenants. They would have been hindered and certainly wouldnt have broken them first turn. I wasn't too concerned over this counter and only picked it up as the wall protected the revenants, and thought why not?, my main concern was the left and right loot tokens as I had invested the main bulk of my army picking these up. Unfortunately for me the wraiths failed to break the slaves and the brutes hurried in to make short work of them. But my luck changed when Beef decided to back up and rolled a 5 meaning their rear was exposed to a werewolf nimble charge, got to love those nimble charges! I dont think Beef would have chose to back up had he realised the wolves would be able to perform the nimble charge. As it was what was looking as a very bad situation on the right quickly turned into a very fortunate one. Beef left enough room behind his Blights and I saw an opportunity to charge the pharaoh into the death engine to tie up some nasty shooting. All in all a good turn 2/3.

The mummies charged the remaining horde of brutes and combined with the wolves made short work of them. We decided to removed the hill at this point as all our models were falling all over the place.
As the game wore on Beef charged the Blights into the revenants to stop their slow moon walk to my table edge. and moved the far left claw shots round the hill to take some shots at the revenant king along with the death engine. I managed to hide the king in the forest before the hail of fire rained down on him so he managed to survive, and eventually get off the table with the loot.

The mummies picked up the loot and hid behind the hill (which we eventually put back). The werewolves were routed from lb and fb, the revenants were also routed. All in all a very bloody game Beef having killed more than I managed (though I'm just now realising I counted the revenant king as a casualty) the score ended up 13-7 to me.

This put me in first place followed by Beef in second, Matt in 3rd and George in 4th. After these games I felt pretty drained. It was a tough day against very tough opposition.
There were some great looking armies but the best painted prize went to Adam and his elves.

'The Fox' (Paul Fox) brought his Trident realms which got allot of attention.

Personally I prefered Adam's Elves :)

All in all a great day of festive cheer, mince pies, banter and bloody battle. What more could you ask for?
